For years I spent time reading the “One Year” Bible every morning. I probably got completely through it twice in five years. The problem was that I never really felt like God was speaking to me in those early morning meditations. It was another of my many Christian formulas and it became a checklist item that I was able to simply check off my massive to do list each morning. Some people swear by this technique of spending time in God’s Word and I think that is great, but for me, I need to be more intentional about meditating on the passages I read. In the passage below, Joshua was instructed to meditate day and night on what today are the first five books of the Bible, the Torah or Law of Moses.
Are you taking the time to simply meditate on God’s Word?
TweetJoshua 1:8 (NIV) Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
