For the first time in my life, I feel as if my spirit man is speaking louder than my natural man. For most of my life, I have been controlled by my fleshly desires. Some have been sinful and some have simply led to wrong choices because I chose not to listen to God. As I started to do Mom’s prayer inventory last week, the first Scripture she led me to was the one below. The first thing we need to do to understand God’s love for us and to hear His Word, is to take the time to listen. In the passage below, we are not being told that we can or should hear God’s voice, we are being told that we DO hear God’s voice. Are you taking the time to listen? If you spend more time in God’s Word, you WILL start recognizing His voice!
John 10:3-5 (NLT)
10:3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 10:4 After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. 10:5 They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.”
