After I became a Christian, you would have thought that my worldly pursuits would cease (or at least slow down). Until just recently, I never realized that my pursuits never slowed down, they simply changed direction. Instead of pursuing sports, I began to pursue money and business kudos. As soon as I got past the “high” of playing college football in 1983 (when everyone said I was too small), I jumped into business in 1987 (when everyone said I didn’t have enough money and too young of a family…which WAS TRUE). I stayed on a fast track to continue to prove to everyone (except God) that I could accomplish the impossible. Are you trying to prove something to gain acceptance as I did?
TweetGalatians 1:10 (NIV)
1:10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
