Coming back from Nicaragua was difficult. I wasn’t prepared to fall in love with all the children. Even though I had a similar experience in Zambia last summer, God really opened my heart up even more for the children of Nicaragua. We spent the first two days mixing concrete by hand and pouring the floor of the feeding center and the third and fourth day, we built picnic tables for the kids to sit on at the center. We finished at Noon on the fourth day and went back at 2:00 PM to see 300 kids sitting on our hand built tables waiting to be fed. It was so encouraging to see the fruit of our hard work. The more amazing thing happened as I engaged the children while the food was delayed. (Actually, I had no idea the food was delayed, because I was having so much fun!) I felt like a rock star diving into a excited crowd, as I dove in head first and met these kids face to face and connected with them heart to heart. I couldn’t speak their language and they couldn’t speak mine, but God’s language of love supersedes communication barriers! I’m fairly sure that I got ministered to more than they did!

TweetPsalm 127:3-5 (NIV)
127:3 Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. 127:4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. 127:5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.
