Chapter

New Wine Skins

As I slow down and smell the roses, I realize that my life of “hot pursuit” has forced me to live my “old” life and simply try and fit God into it.  After you received Jesus into your life, did you really sense the freedom of a new life, or like me, did you try to hang onto the old and make it God fit into your defenition of a “normal” life?  As I was going through my Bible study last week in the book of Luke, the passage below really opened my eyes.  Jesus was actually speaking to the Pharisees in this passage, but I think He is speaking to many of us today!  Are you willing to start a new life in Christ?

Luke 5:36-39 (NIV)

5:36 He told them this parable: “No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. 5:37 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. 5:38 No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. 5:39 And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, ‘The old is better.’”
