Pain Transformed by Love

Last week in our home group, our leader, Russell Fragar, mentioned that in order for the pain in your heart to be truly overcome, you need to replace it with love.  Many people chase after worldly fixes of their pain like alcohol, drugs, sex, as well as things that are not so obvious distractions like sports activities, gym memberships and even church activities.  Anything that we fill our time with when we are going through deep pain can be a false replacement to God’s best cure for our hearts.  A transformed heart becomes a healthy heart.  In order to really see your life transformed, you need to let God’s love fill the hole in your heart.  I know that when I am more intentional about loving and serving others, my current pain lessens.  There is so much need all around us, you don’t have to look very hard to find people in your circle of influence to help.  If you want to start healing from your “valley” experiences, find someone in your life to help.  Take some of the attention off of your needs and focus on someone else’s pain and you will see your oppression lifted!

Romans 12:12 (NIV)
12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
