Speed Causes Damage

Our fast paced-life consumes every ounce of our energy.  The fast-paced and crazy lives we lead, fills our heads with noise (gray noise…not black and white) and drowns out the whispering voices of Jesus.  Spiritual growth does NOT depend on ‘running faster’, as in more meetings, more Bible studies and more prayer meetings. Spiritual growth happens when we slow our activities down, not when we increase them. If you want to have a deeper relationship with Jesus and learn to love Him more and more, you can’t do it on the run. If we want to stay on the road of faith, we have to get off the highway, exit on to the back roads and be willing to STOP when we recognize that the traffic has backed up.  Our walk with God is not about getting Jesus to speed through life with us; it’s about noticing Jesus sitting with us in bumper to bumper traffic.  The more I think about it, the more I realize that life is a lot like a traffic jam.  It feels like a frustrating mess, but if Jesus is riding with us, we can still find the peace we are looking for.  Who’s driving YOUR life?

Psalm 46:10 (NIV)

46:10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
