Step Out in Faith

To trust God when we don’t feel or see His presence is the ultimate test of our willingness to follow Him. As I described all week with the story of Andre De Villiers, there are times in every believer’s life when God requires him to step out into the unknown–to take a leap of faith–to go out on a limb. These occasions almost always will challenge our ability to reason and to make sense of it all. In the passage below, Abraham faced a similar predicament when he was commanded by God to go to a foreign country leaving behind all the securities and familiarity his homeland had offered. I’ve been told several times in the last year that when God is going to do something wonderful, He begins it with a difficulty.  When he is going to do something miraculous, He begins with an impossibility. Have we had some difficulty this year or what?  God loves to defy odds, accomplish the impossible, operate in the supernatural, and amaze us with His creativity and power.

Hebrews 11:8 (NIV)

11:8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.
